It's early morning, and you can hear them long before you can see them...the geese are coming! The high-pitched “luk-a-luk” call of thousands of whitefronted (specklebelly) geese as they leave their resting area and head out to feed can be heard for miles. This is whitefront country; the major flyway staging area for waterfowl in southwestern Saskatchewan. And this is where K&P Outfitters specialize in hunting the whitefronted, or specklebelly geese. Along with sandhill cranes, Canada geese, Snow, Blue and Ross' geese, there may be as many as one million birds in the area at one time. The sight and sound of thousands of geese circling the decoys is something you won't easily forget.
K&P Outfitters has been in operation for more than twenty years, and now the second and third generation continue to provide the same quality service that began those many years ago. An active member of the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association (SOA), K&P Outfitters is committed to training their guides to national standards through the Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council.
Sandhill cranes are here in the hundreds of thousands and we hunt them regularly. Many guests that had heard that cranes taste "like an old board" changed their mind after trying Carole's award-winning recipe. In fact, we refer to the crane as “the rib-eye of the sky”!
In addition to waterfowl, the area abounds with upland game. Dry, warm springs during the past decade have resulted in ideal nesting conditions for the upland birds, and as a result the Hungarian partridge populations have exploded and sharptail grouse populations are the best they have been in years.
Come join us to experience great hunting, great hospitality and meet great friends! This is an adventure with wide open spaces, solitude, sights and sounds that you won't forget!
